Paragraph 6 addresses the ego's law of giving to get, in which the ego survives by taking, yet it is relinquished through giving. Paragraph 7 addresses the radical idea that bodily appetites are not physical in origin.

Our fight to hold on to the ego is compared to babies who scream when scissors or knives are being taken away from them. We neither know what we need nor what will make us happy and safe, and as a result we cling to what will only hurt us.
